I have had a passion for photography since I was a young girl. My first camera was a Kodak 110 Instamatic, which became an accessory that was always in hand wherever I went. At that time, I did not apply much, if any, science behind the camera. I would snap pictures here, there, and everywhere.

Throughout the years this passion has waxed and waned, but has always been a strong presence in my life. I still keep a camera on me wherever I go, and I do apply a wealth of science behind the lens today. Lighting, posing, foreground, background, aperture, shutter speed, and image sensor sensitivity all play important roles in creating a portrait.

I strive to progress my photography every day. I work often with other artists and take advanced classes to learn new techniques to provide the highest quality portraits for my clients. A priceless portrait will evoke the warmest memories and essentially allow you to relive that one specific moment in time.

I am an on location family portrait photographer for The Woodlands and the surrounding Montgomery County, TX. That means that truly anything can be your backdrop. We can meet at a park, in the city, or even your own home. I do have a portable studio that I can bring with me, upon request, as long as you have the sufficient space for it. The portable studio may be beneficial for very young infants and children, or if a specific type of photo is requested

I prefer to shoot portraits in the morning or late afternoon, since the outdoor lighting conditions are more pleasing at these times. I am flexible as far as scheduling though. Also, as a mother, I know that sometimes things do come up, and I can accommodate hectic schedules and less than favorable weather. Please contact me as soon as possible in the event that you need to reschedule.

A typical portrait session will last anywhere between 1-3 hours, so I encourage you to bring some water and perhaps a snack, especially if it is quite warm. My style is relaxed and casual. Some pictures will be posed, while others will not. Candid photos are often great ways to capture a natural smile that may be otherwise hard to get looking right at the photographer. 1-2 locations are usually all the time will allow. However, if you prefer more locations and time, I would be happy to fulfill your request at an additional cost. Here are some general clothing guidelines, although I can offer more specific suggestions at the time of booking:

Dress comfortably, and be yourself

Solid colors or simple designs are best

Large logos, busy patterns, and flowery patterns are not recommended

Do bring a favorite toy or blankie for your child, as it will help comfort him or her

Newborns often look best in solid or simple onesies or bare skin

The session fee* for a portrait session with up to 5 subjects is $80. It will be an extra $10 for every additional subject. The portrait session includes 1-3 hours and usually 1-2 locations. If more time is requested, it will be $30 for every additional hour.

The session fee for a senior session is $95. There can be up to 3 locations, as well as 3 outfit changes. There will be a charge of $15 for every additional outfit change after that.

*This fee covers travel expenses, equipment set up, actual session time, and photo processing

The session fee is due the day of the appointment. Client proofing galleries will be online for 30 days after the date of your session. If you need your gallery reposted after the initial 30 days, a $30 fee will be charged to have it reposted

All clients are required to sign a session contract and copyright notice/model release form prior to their session. All images are the property of Smiling Fox Photography and are protected by federal copyright laws. Unauthorized duplication in any manner is strictly prohibited. Copyright will be waived and a signed release provided by the photographer should you purchase the digital negatives of your photos.
